People think that being a Christian is boring. For some reason they believe that you can’t have fun. I remember going to church and them telling us that going to the movies was a sin, roller skating was a sin, talking to boys was a sin, putting on nail polish and lip stick was a sin, ballet was a sin because of the risky leotard, and the thunder in the sky was God being angry with His creation! Where was the liberty to express oneself without feeling bound to hell every time? I might as well had become a nun! I believe that too many restrictions in life tells God that we have a limited revelation of who He is. God wants us to have fun. The culture of His Kingdom is a loving culture that liberates us in the beautiful personality that we already have. When we are suppressed and ashamed of who we truly are, we become destructive to the world around us. We must be rooted and grounded in the love of God.
When we know God, we come to understand that He gives us beautiful expression from Himself. What comes from Him is holy; therefore, we do not have to control how much we laugh, sing, cry, and dance if it all comes from Him. We cry, we scream, we frown, we dance, etc. We express what is in the heart! Be it good or bad, the body wants to express the emotion, and that is why we sanctify our emotions in Jesus. We were made to express, illustrate, create with natural expression what we can’t verbally say. It enhances our words. Like a fire cracker or a shaken bottle of soda, we were created to explode with joy. The saying, “LAUGH OUT LOUD” is totally cool with God! Joy is an earmark of the Kingdom. We should never be ashamed to be joyful in the midst of battle. Laughter! It’s a beautiful thing. To be liberated in God and enjoy Him is something that He wants us to experience. Laughter is a medicine! We have a reason to laugh, and there is a laughter waiting to erupt on the inside of every person.
